The War Memorial

The Hampton Wick War Memorial is situated on the Hampton Wick side of Kingston Bridge, in south-west London. It is located between the end of the bridge and the entrance to Home Park.

The Memorial commemorates casualties of both World Wars, forty seven of whom fought in the Great War. It was unveiled on 3 May 1921 with the Church Lads Brigade and a bugler from the East Surrey Regimental Depot at Kingston in attendance.

In 1933, the Memorial was floodlit using gas from the Hampton Wick Gas Co.

The first phase of this Project is to gather information about the men commemorated on the Hampton Wick War Memorial who fought in the Great War, also known as World War I, WWI or the First World War.
